New Area President Announced for Africa Southeast Area 

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced Elder Kevin S. Hamilton will be the new Area President effective June 1, 2016. He will be assisted in his new duties by Elder Stanley G. Ellis, first counselor and Elder S. Mark Palmer as his second counselor.

The First Presidency have announced a new Area Presidency for the Africa Southeast Area as of 1 June 2016.  Elder Kevin S. Hamilton will assume his new role as Area President with the assistance of first counsellor  Elder Stanley G. Ellis, and second councelor  Elder S. Mark Palmer.

Elder Carl B. Cook, the current Area President, has received a new assignment in Chruch Headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah , USA,  to begin June 1, 2016.  Many Chruch members have expressed their love and best wishes to him and his wife Lynette as they leave Africa after a 5 year stay.  

The new Area President Elder Kevin S. Hamilton was sustained as a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 6, 2013. At the time of his call he was serving as a Church public affairs director in Southern California. He is currently serving as a member of the Africa Southeast Area Presidency.



Elder Hamilton received a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Brigham Young University in 1979. In 1982 he received a master’s degree in finance from the University of Washington. He has been CEO of several mobile telecommunications companies, and prior to his call he was a cofounder and partner in a venture capital firm.

Elder Hamilton has served in numerous callings, including full-time missionary in the Switzerland Geneva Mission, counselor in a bishopric, bishop, high councilor, stake president, and president of the Belgium Brussels/Netherlands Mission (2003–2006).

Kevin Scott Hamilton was born in Wenatchee, Washington, on March 26, 1955. He married Claudia Keysor in July 1978. They are the parents of six children.
