Kenya Nairobi Mission welcomes new Mission President

President Khumbulani Mdletshe arrives to preside over the mission

        

President Khumbulani Mdletshe arrived at Jomo Kenyata Airport on June 29, 2019, as the new President of the Kenya Nairobi Mission. He had been serving as a member of the Third Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since April 5, 2014.  His wife, Cynthia Ntoombifuthi Hlongwane and their four children accompanied him. 

 Shortly after their arrival, saints and missionaries said farewell to President Ephraim and Sister Nomthi Msane who had presided over the Kenya Nairobi Mission with commitment and distinction for the past three years. 

 President Mdletshe received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and political science from Brigham Young University-Hawaii in 1991, a master’s degree in education from Brigham Young University in 1992, and a PhD in education management from Rand Afrikaans University in 1999. In 1993 President Mdletshe began his career as an education center coordinator for the National Research Foundation and continued to work in the education research field until 1997 when he began working for the Church.  Since that time he has worked as both a regional and area director for the Church Educational System (CES), as the Area Manager for Church History, and as the director of the Roodepoort South Africa Institute.
 

Since joining the Church in 1980, President Mdletshe has served in numerous Church callings, including full-time missionary service in the London South Mission, bishop’s counselor, branch president’s counselor, branch president, high counselor, stake president’s counselor, and mission president’s counselor
 

       
Sister Mdletshe has served as a Sunday School teacher, a Young Women and Primary counselor and a ward Relief Society, and Primary president. 
 

The Kenya Nairobi Mission now welcomes President and Sister Mdletshe and their family as they fulfill this new assignment.
