Kenya Members Sustain a new Presidency

As the 17th President of the Church, Russell M. Nelson was announced as the next president in 29 languages, to members around the world by satellite broadcast. This was followed by a press conference held immediately afterwards.

Kenya members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints express their love and thoughts for the new Church President Russell M. Nelson and his two counselors after the announcement by a satellite broadcast in 29 languages on January 17, 2018.

The Saints experienced a change of leadership in their Church with the death of their much-loved prophet, President Thomas S. Monson, 92. Russell M. Nelson was announced as 17th President of the Church, first to the members around the world and then at a press conference held immediately afterwards.

President Nelson and his counselors have served for many years as apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Saints know and revere the new leadership through personal experiences and conference talks from the past decades. The smooth transition is a result of no posturing or campaigning for the position.  See and hear short excerpts from members of the Church in Kenya.
