Kayole Community Government Office Cleaned by Helping Hands

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who volunteered for community service on August 18, 2018 cleaned and made repairs to the office compound in their neighborhood.

The Office Compound of the chief assigned to the community, Ms. Faith Sweetie, instructed members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who volunteered for community service on August 18, 2018. The 80 volunteers worked to clear trash and burn litter piles, slashed the overgrowth and painted white a row of rocks that designate the car park. They also replaced glass in two windows.

Yellow vests and Helping Hands is the designated arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for community service. Many units of the Church conducted service projects throughout Africa during the month of August, with the culminating activity being held on August 18, 2018. Nairobi East Stake, coordinated an activity in Kayole area under the priesthood leadership of President Jadmire Ndivo and Kasanga Mukendi, Public Affairs director.

The Helping Hands, members numbering approximately 80 provided service labor—generally not goods or materials. They worked with the county officials for organizing tools and support. Service to others is an important characteristic of the followers of Jesus Christ, as member give their time and talents to bless those in need. It also gives members the opportunity to beautify city streets, parks, schools and recreational areas.

The area chief, Ms. Sweetie, appreciated the volunteers and the work they did and was impressed to let them know if any needed education loans, she was there to help the people of Kayole area. As families participate, the youth as well as adults become more sensitive to the challenges that other community members face. Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are organized to serve and portray the fruits of their faith, to create favorable gospel conversations and beneficial relationships with community leaders as well as those of other faiths. The Church’s Helping Hands service  helps spread the knowledge of the Church to many who would not otherwise hear of it.
