Game Day at Buru-Buru

The young single adults (YSA) of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Nairobi East Stake, on November 3, 2018 were provided a Game Day at the Buru-Buru meetinghouse.

The young single adults (YSA) of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a category used to describe an unmarried adult between the ages of 18 and 30. The purpose of the YSA program of the Church is to provide enhanced opportunities for them to serve in leadership positions, to teach and to lead. November 3, 2018 Nairobi East Stake provided a Game Day for YSA at the Buru-Buru Church meetinghouse.

Those attending gathered for sports activities such as Basketball, football, volley ball, and various fun races. The event provided a large meal of meat, stew and rice, cooked and served by those talented YSA adults themselves, which took many willing hands to prepare. The event included a treasure hunt and listening to music.

This Game Day was an example of an activity arranged within Church parameters that allowed YSA to mingle, get to know one another, and spend time with those of their own age with similar standards and beliefs. These activities generally reach from fun-based such as this Game Day event, to weekend conferences, to religious instruction such as Institute of Religion classes or Sunday afternoon firesides.

The Prophets and Church leaders are deeply interested in the welfare of young single adults during this time in their lives. This is when they often make their most important life decisions, including marriage, education, career, friendships, Church activity, and their relationships with Heavenly Father and the Savior. It is YSA activities where they are urged to pursue education, and learn marketable skills so that, should a situation arise, they are prepared.
