Elder Joseph W. Sitati presides over the Eldoret District Conference

ElderJoseph Sitati presided over the Eldoret District Conference at the Eldoret Branch building on September 14 and 15th inspiring the saints in  both the Leadership Training and adult sessions. He was accompanied by his wife, Gladys N. Sitati, Area Seventy, Elder Dunstan Chadambuka from Zimbabwe, and Kenya Nairobi Mission President, Khumbulani Mdletshe. 

The changes announced included the release of President Dominic C. Kogo as the Eldoret District President and his call as the Second Counselor in the Kenya Nairobi Mission Presidency. The Mission Presidency now consists of President Khumbulani D. Mdletshe, President, Laurian P. Balilemwa, First Counselor, Dominic C. Kogo, Second Counselor and Hesbon Usi as Secretary. Rodgers Kelem was called to be the new President for Eldoret District with John Kuria Kamau as First Counselor and Gregory Mutiso as Second Counselor.

 Elder Sitati set the tone for the conference when he told the district leaders that “Ministering is the heart of discipling.  This is what disciples of Christ do.” He quoted from Exodus 18 detailing how to minister in the Church and in our homes through interviews. His Sunday message included encouraging members to invite neighbors to learn about us: “Let us never excuse or apologize for who we are so the blessings we have can be part of other people’s lives”.  In referring to fulfilling assignments in the Church, Elder Sitati explained, “The bag of duties never comes without a bag of blessings.” He encouraged members to establish those “holy habits” that allow them to access the blessings available to them. 

In his remarks, President Kogo referred to the privilege of church service as “a holy calling”. “We are commissioned to prepare a people sanctified to meet the Lord at the second coming.” He expressed his love for those he had served for the past eight years.President Rodgers Kelem expressed his love for the saints saying: "I love you brothers and sisters, We all need each other, we must all play our part. I know God lives, that He died for us.

Sister Sitati encouraged the saints to read the scriptures with their families illustrating how even a two year old can repeat one word at a time. ”When you read the scriptures in the morning the spirit stays with you all day long. Be kind to each other, help each other to stay on the path to eternal life.”     

Area Seventy, Elder Chadambuka detailed what it means to be doers of the word, quoting D & C 43” 8-9: “When we ‘bind ourselves’ we promise we will act. When we are asked to read scriptures, we do it, when asked to do Come Follow Me, we do it, when asked to minister, we do it.”
