    Elder Joseph W. Sitati Hosts Three Govenors in Eldoret, Kenya

    Building Friendships of Trust

    On the 13 Sept 2019, Elder Joseph W. Sitati accompanied by his wife Gladys N. Sitati, Elder Dunstan Chadambuka from Zimbabwe, President Khumbulani Mdletshe currently serving as the Kenya Nairobi Mission President covering Kenya and Tanzania, and President Dominic Kogo the former Eldoret District President hosted the Governor of Kakamega H.E. Hon. Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya, EGH accompanied by Hon. John Barasa Wangwe the Chief Executive Committee Member (C.E.C.M) for Water, Environment & Natural Resources, Hon. Morris Indakwa Buluma the Speaker of the Kakamega County Assembly, Hon. Joseck Joab Maloba the Chief Officer for Water, Dr.John Wamokonjio the Chairman Board of Directors of the Kakamega County Water & Sanitation Company, Mr. Fredrick Atwa the Managing Director Kakamega County Water & Sanitation Company and Hon. Swaka Limera – Kisa North Ward Member of County Assembly & Chair of Water, Environment, & Natural Resources Committee amongst other delegation members at the Boma Inn Hotel in Eldoret for dinner.

       It was an evening of joy and learning. The program started with a dinner in a relaxed setting that allowed the host and guests to interact on a personal level. Following the dinner, a semi-formal meeting was held to introduce the Church. During the introductions, His Excellency Honorable Wycliffe Oparanya, took time to highlight the key characteristics of his county and possible areas of collaboration with the Church in helping the communities within his county.

    Elder Sitati then took time to explain the organization of the Church from the First Presidency to the Seventy and then highlighted the roles of the Mission President and District President as local leaders within the country. This was instrumental in ensuring that the relationships thus initiated are sustained by the local priesthood leaders. At the conclusion of the meeting the Minister for Water shared his sincere gratitude and mentioned fondness to the Church as he considered the things that he learnt during the few hours that he had spent with the members of the Church in this setting.

      On the 14 Sept 2019, Elder Sitati hosted, for dinner at the Boma Inn Hotel in Eldoret, H.E. Hon. Jackson K. Arap Mandago, EGH accompanied by Hon. Esther C. Mutai C.E.C.M of Cooperatives and Enterprise Development and Hon. Dr. Emily Kogos C.E.C.M for ICT, Trade and Industrialization. His Excellency Honorable Eng. Alex Tolgos the Governor Elgeyo of Marakwet also honored an invitation to join Elder Sitati on the same day accompanied by Hon. Abraham Barsosio the C.E.C.M for Water, Environment & Natural Resources and Hon. Anne Kibosia the C.E.C.M for Agriculture and Irrigation. Elder Sitati took time to briefly share about the Humanitarian Service that the Church carries out worldwide and the four areas of focus: Provision of Clean Water, Mobility by providing wheelchairs, Vision and Neonatal Care.

      The host Governor H.E. Jackson Mandago in his remarks mentioned how valuable the event had been in enlightening him about the Church. He confirmed his willingness to engage further with the Church following the clarity he had received and the experience he had had interacting with Elder Sitati. He was also impressed by the Church’s focus on Self Reliance.

       H.E. Hon Alex Tolgos, in his remarks, focused on the opportunities for continued engagement and collaboration between the Church and his government in the areas of Self Reliance, Water Provision, Vision and Mobility. He was keen to invite the church to open a branch in Elgeyo Marakwet to share the Gospel with the people in his county. He highlighted the value that the gospel can bring to communities especially in establishing peace and cohesion.

      At the conclusion of each of the meetings, gifts were given and a special vote of thanks from Elder Sitati to all in attendance with the expression of the hope for continued engagement and collaboration.
