One Drop of Oil – Nairobi East Stake Conference

Nairobi East Stake Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was held at the Burubura meetinghouse on March 18, 2018.

Nairobi East Stake Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was held at the Burubura meetinghouse on March 18, 2018. The theme for the stake was “Come Unto Christ and be Perfected Unto Him” 3 Nephi 10:32.

Stake President Ndivo conducted the meeting and opened the meeting with how the Spirit in the relationship with the choir members and the song they sang, nourished the congregation, pointing out that everyone should have a good relationship with our Heavenly Father.

President Ndivo also spoke of three pillars to bring us closer to Heavenly Father—having faith in Christ’s atonement which results in Sabbath worship, learn to love and serve others as Christ did, and to become self-reliant both spiritually and temporally. This includes being exact in obedience, besides strengthening testimony to become converted.

Titus Midido spoke on getting his family to the temple and that the Lord had given him a testimony of that sacred place.

Frida Ndinda spoke on the importance of keeping the Sabbath Day holy.

Warenga Omondi, a young return missionary spoke on the purpose of missionary work, that is to testify, to help people understand the doctrines of Christ, and to be what He wants us to be.

Elder Artur J. Miranda, an area seventy shared his mother’s conversion story. He felt it similar to that which the Prophet Joseph Smith experienced. The small voice of the Holy Ghost pierced to their very soul and both witnessed the power of the Book of Mormon. The bible, along with the Book of Mormon, clarifies many doctrines and is a second witness of the same truths.

The General Authority Seventy, Elder Hamilton, concluded the meeting with this message—strengthen yourself and become truly converted for you and your family for eternal life with our Father in Heaven. He re-iterated the Parable of the Ten Virgins. The five wise virgins had oil in their lanterns and were on their way to see the groom (which is our Savior). The five foolish virgins ran out of oil and could not borrow any as it represents their own conversion. As we gain our oil drop by drop, with prayer, reading scriptures, and partaking of the sacrament—adding to our testimony—each drop of oil fills our lamp which represents our conversion.

The Faithful Saints will receive the richest blessing for their children. And his final remark was found in Moroni’s last plea, “Come unto Christ and be perfected unto Him.”
