There are 13,000 members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kenya. They come from all walks of life and of all ages. Here, some express their thoughts and love of President Thomas S. Monson.
“I thought I was tired of serving in church until I watched “On the Lord’s Errand: The Life of Thomas S. Monson.” I found it on YouTube last year. It hit me that I had not even scratched the surface of serving. His story inspired, strengthened and encouraged me to keep pressing on in the Lord’s work.
I always looked forward to Conference because of his funny stories and uplifting spiritual talks. He had such a great sense of humor! I will miss him… my favorite quote from President Monson is “Choose your Love, love your choice.” Sister Millicent Achieng, Relief Society President, Nairobi West Stake
“President Monson was a great Prophet and I especially like that he emphasized reading the Book of Mormon plus visiting the temple. I took his words to heart and took myself to the temple and felt the spirit so strong. I’m trying to be a light –a’ living sacrifice,” writes Thomas Kasue, a member of the Athi River Ward. Kasue was one of the first baptized in Kenya in a hunting lodge’s swimming pool, in the early 1980’s. His family was the strength of the early Church—truly pioneers in Kenya.
