Kenyan Mormon Honored by Queen of England

Alex Mataivo, a member of The Church of Jesus Chirst of Latter-day Saints (Mormon) was recently honored by the Queen of England.

Alex is a computer science expert who was recognized for his E-Lab, which changes electronic waste into innovative products that include sculptures.

Mataivo spends most of his time in his Athi River electronic studio creating sculptures.  He told news reporters that he conceived the idea back in 2013 after he witnessed what he termed “reckless dumping of electronic waste in his community”.  He is currently enrolled in the African Leadership University in Nairobi, Kenya.

Alex said: “I started my company at age 19.  It was tough because I had to forfeit many things that every teenager holds dear.  I faced the challenge of lack of funds as Government institutions turned me down.  And now, I am happy to be honored by Her Majesty the Queen."   Alex is a leader in the Church in the Athi River area in Nairobi, Kenya.
