Kenya and Tanzania Greet New Mission President

New Mission President from South Africa to Preside over Mission in Kenya

S. Ephraim Msane,53, and his wife began their tenure as the new Mission President and wife of the Kenya Nairobi Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on June 29, 2016.  President and Sister Msane are from South Africa.  He was educated in South Africa as an engineer and has been in business there.  He and Sister Msane have always wanted to serve a mission together, so this is a dream come true.  He said, ”We already love the people, love the country and love the gospel of Jesus Christ.”   They are very excited to work in these countries and anxious to join all the people in spiritual growth together.

President and Sister Msane are the parents of two sons, with 4 grandchildren.  His church service includes being a former mission president counselor, stake (diocese) presidency counselor, mens high priest group leader, high councilor and working in public affairs for the Church.

Sister Msane previously served as a stake Relief Society president (women's organization), stake Young Women president, seminary (youth religious studies) teacher and has also worked in public affairs.  Sister Msane has a masters degree in business administration and is a radiographer, working with X-rays.

President and Sister Msane have just returned from a week at a new mission presidents seminar in the United States.  In this seminar they were instructed in missionary work by the leaders of the Church from Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.   President Msane mentioned, "It was the best four days of my life, being instructed by the Apostles.” 

While in Kenya and Tanzania he hopes to dispell misconceptions that many people have about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He wants people to understand that Latter-day Saints (Mormons) follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and that Father in Heaven is the God in Heaven.  He said, “We are all about the gospel of Jesus Christ”.

During their service, each mission president presides in one of the 418 missions around the world.  President Msane will preside over the mission which includes Kenya and Tanzania.

Newly called mission presidents come from all walks of life, from many geographic locations, from varied experiences in Church leadership and from diverse family compositions.
